Job Overview

A well-established regional law firm is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate to join its Albany office. The firm represents businesses, financial institutions, developers, business owners, and high-net-worth individuals in complex commercial and business litigation matters across New York State and federal courts.

This role offers meaningful responsibility, direct mentorship, and exposure to sophisticated litigation work in a collaborative environment focused on quality legal practice rather than rigid billable hour requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage commercial and business litigation matters from initiation through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal memoranda
• Conduct legal research and assist in developing a litigation strategy
• Handle discovery, including e-discovery and document review
• Participate in depositions, hearings, and trial preparation
• Collaborate with partners and clients on case strategy and execution

Required Qualifications

• 2–10 years of experience in commercial litigation or business litigation
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
• Experience with motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation
• Ability to manage multiple active matters in a fast-paced environment
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Admission to the New York State Bar (required)

Note: Candidates primarily experienced in personal injury, insurance defense, consumer credit, or residential/foreclosure litigation are not a fit for this position.
