PURPOSE:

The BEST roofer is an individual who takes pride in their work; this means that they are not only collaborating in a team to deliver quality but also works following all the company’s safety standards. This person is a skilled tradesman and continually improves their skills to master the trade.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work in a SAFE manner at all times.
• Use Personal Protective Equipment and complete basic safety setups.
• Safely handle all material.
• Layout all equipment and material as instructed.
• Own and properly use hand tools per Best Roofing policy.
• Safely operate all power tools as instructed.
• Maintain a clean and organized jobsite.
• Safely tear off old roof and material as instructed.
• Have satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
• Knows how to probe seams on single ply installations.
• Act as a competent person/Safety Monitor as required.
• Ability to perform basic torching, heat welding, and metal installation.
• Properly layout and install insulation.
• Properly install flashing, roof drains, and termination bar.
• Properly flash penetrations and wrap pipes.
• Properly apply adhesive to specifications for the project.
• Safely operate all power equipment as instructed.
• Properly set up safety on your projects.
• Properly install crickets per specification.
• Properly layout and install tapered insulation.
• Effectively tie in new roof to existing roof – no leaks.
• Effective use of robots, hand leisters, and Rhinobond machines for advanced heat welding tasks.
• Effective use of the torch for advanced modified bitumen installation.
• Understand and efficiently follow fastening patterns.
• Understand and efficiently install various single ply, modified bitumen, and waterproofing materials/systems.
• Properly install metal, gutters, and downspouts.
• Attend Best Roofing sponsored learning sessions to advance your skills.
• Adhere to Best Roofing Fundamentals.
• Follow your steps within the 31 Steps of a Construction Project as instructed.

KEY RESULTS:

• Successfully complete all tasks and duties with highest safety, quality, and productivity per Best Roofing standards.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE :

• Demonstrable experience working on roofs with tools to complete roofing projects required.
• CERTA torch certification preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Demonstrable experience removing and installing commercial roof systems required.
• Demonstrable experience torching and heat welding roof material required.
• Ability to work at heights on flat and inclined surfaces year-round in Florida weather required – roofers work on roofs.
• Ability to climb ladders and set up work requirements in a safe manner required.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions required.
• Ability to lift material, tools, and equipment constantly throughout the day required to complete the job.
• High school diploma or equivalent, vocational school certificate of completion, experience in roofing construction/installation/operations, or a combination of the above.
