Plans, lays out, assembles, modifies, validates and maintains test equipment and related structural assemblies by reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and sketches | Assists engineers in operating test equipment to obtain performance data on parts and assemblies under varying operating conditions | Collects, compiles and summarizes test data and reviews results with Engineering to resolve problems such as product or equipment issues, malfunctions and incomplete test data | Diagnoses test equipment malfunctions and services and repairs equipment as required
Job Summary/Objective:
The SCR Commissioning & Field Service Specialist is responsible for installation, commissioning and start-up of SCR
Projects as required. This individual must become familiar with all major subsystems of copper and aluminum rod
mills sold to customers and will provide process installation guidance and support. The SCR Commissioning & Field
Service Specialist will interface with other areas of the organization to drive continuous improvement in processes
and equipment supplied by SCR.
Key Responsibilities:
Work independently to supervise customer installation of SCR systems.
Use in-depth knowledge and experience to Install, configure, commission and troubleshoot subsystems of the continuous processing system including pumps, motors, and valves.
Solve complex problems to identify process and/or equipment improvement opportunities.
Assist in the specifications, installation, and modification of SCR systems
Manage SCR service program to include periodic audits, vibration analysis monitoring, and PM program for end users
Develop and maintain PM documents for SCR equipment sold to end users
Performs customer training on features and general maintenance of the systems.
Must have a good understanding of equipment functions and be able to transfer operational knowledge to
customers and new employees through training, publications, discussions, presentations, and other forms of communication.
Act as a resource to answer technical questions posed by our existing and prospective customers and new employees.
Produce daily progress reports during startups and field service visits.
Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving operations and solving maintenance-related problems
Must clearly document customer visits, process audits, and problem-solving approach during troubleshooting.
International travel, potentially several weeks duration at a time, of up to 25% is required.
Requirements
Education, Experience, and Skills
Required:
Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's
Specialized Degree: Engineering degree or 15+ years direct experience
Years of Experience: 5+
Field of Expertise: Installation and maintenance of industrial equipment.
Preferred
Years of Experience: 10+
Other Preferred Skills, Licenses, & Certificates:
Must have strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills, be a strong team player, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and be flexible and adaptable to changing requirements.
Self-starter with a passion for problem solving and continuous improvement requiring minimal supervision.
Proven experience of successful completion of projects.
AutoCad experience or ability to learn to use this software is desired.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals.
