Commodity Coordinator

Position Summary

The Commodity Coordinator is responsible for the end-to-end execution of assigned commodity programs, ensuring seamless order flow from suppliers to customers. This role manages supply chain activities across diverse sourcing channels, maintaining high service levels while optimizing cost, inventory, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at coordinating across suppliers, warehouses, logistics providers, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities Business Execution

• Own and execute the day-to-day operations of assigned commodity programs across multiple supply sources.

• Ensure smooth, timely flow of product from suppliers to end customers.

• Act as a central point of coordination across procurement, logistics, and customer teams.

Order Management

• Manage all customer orders across multiple transportation modes (e.g., truck, rail, bulk).

• Oversee order entry, accruals, and ticketing processes with a high level of accuracy.

• Provide complete and timely order details to the Logistics team to support efficient transportation execution.

Supplier & Warehouse Coordination

• Coordinate with suppliers across various supply chains to plan and schedule inbound shipments.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for warehouse partners managing inventory.

• Collaborate on scheduling, inbound/outbound processes, quality control, and inventory handling.

• Lead improvements and standardization of scheduling and operational processes.

Inventory Management

• Monitor inventory levels across multiple warehouse locations.

• Maintain appropriate safety stock levels by SKU.

• Provide visibility into inventory positions and proactively address discrepancies with internal and external partners.

Cost & Service Optimization

• Identify and implement routing and distribution strategies to minimize delivered costs.

• Balance cost efficiency with high service levels and customer satisfaction.

• Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve supply chain performance.

• Proactively identify and resolve execution challenges to maintain continuity of supply and service.

Qualifications

6-10 years of supply chain management experience, preferably within agriculture, food, or similar industries, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Rail and ocean transportation experience preferred.
