Position Summary - The Communications Director provides strategic leadership for Bethel’s communications, ensuring they advance the church’s mission, vision, values, and ministry priorities. This role partners with ministry leaders to develop effective strategies, steward Bethel’s brand, strengthen communication systems, and lead execution through personal contribution, volunteers, and outsourced creative partners.

Professional Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to develop and lead communication strategies aligned with organizational priorities and audience needs.
Excellent written, verbal, editorial, and visual communication skills.
Strong strategic judgment, organization, and project-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing needs and manage multiple initiatives.
Able to balance strategic leadership with hands-on creative execution.
Working knowledge of brand management and digital communications—including websites, email, social media, photography, video, analytics, and relevant design tools
Bachelor’s degree and 5–10 years of related experience preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties
Communications Strategy & Ministry Partnership
Develop and lead a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with Bethel’s mission, values, and ministry priorities.
Ensure Bethel’s communication channels work cohesively to deliver the right message to the right audience at the right time.
Prioritize communication efforts based on strategic priorities, ministry needs, and available resources.
Identify and implement systems, technologies, and best practices that improve communication effectiveness and sustainability.
Oversee outsourced creative partners, ensuring projects meet expectations for quality, budget, deadlines, and ministry objectives.
Recruit, equip, and lead communications volunteers using Bethel’s leadership pipeline.
Digital Communications
Lead Bethel’s digital strategy across the website, email, social media, video, livestream, and emerging platforms.
Oversee website content, user experience, and functionality
Strengthen communication pathways that help guests become connected participants in the life of Bethel.
Establish clear, ethical guidelines for posting, moderation, and responses across digital platforms.
Brand, Design & Storytelling
Steward Bethel’s brand, ensuring communications consistently reflect the church’s mission, values, culture, and voice.
Maintain and develop brand standards, templates, and communication guidelines.
Create selected communication and design materials while determining which projects are best completed by volunteers or outsourced partners.
Oversee photography and video production through personal contribution, volunteers, and creative partners.
Ensure digital assets are organized, accessible, and responsibly stewarded.
Analytics & Improvement
Monitor key communication metrics, including website traffic, email engagement, social media performance, livestream participation, and guest engagement.
Evaluate communication channels, audience touchpoints, and next steps for guests, attenders, volunteers, and members.
Recommend and implement improvements to communication strategies, systems, workflows, templates, and digital tools.
General
Manage the Communications budget to maximize ministry impact
Participate actively in staff meetings, ministry planning, church-wide events, and cross-ministry initiatives, including the Reach Strategy Team.
Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive organizational, pastoral, or personnel communication.
Foster collaboration, unity, and support across Bethel’s ministries and departments.
This is not a remote position; in-office-only hours are required.
