The Communications Manager on the communications team is responsible for the developing and executing marketing communication strategies that advance market, product, and strategic  business priorities. The role partners closely with markets, products, sales support, engineering, other stakeholders, including the global network of sales and service centers to translate business objectives and customer insight into prioritized communications plans, messaging, and content.

Most importantly, the Communications Manager serves as a communications advisor and partner to key stakeholders. The role offers strategic counsel, shapes communication approaches, manages cross-functional projects and feedback, and guides work from planning through execution, approval, activation, and measurement. The role requires strong business acumen, willingness to learn, problem-solving abilities, consultative skills, and the positive attitude to work in a collaborative, team-based environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serves as primary communications partner for assigned markets, products, programs, or strategic initiatives.

• Establishes credibility as an expert capable of influencing and leading the development and implementation of communications strategies and plans.


• Builds a deep understanding of business partners’ objectives to identify and implement communications activities that  support desired business outcomes.


• Uses active listening techniques to identify highest-impact opportunities for communications support, works with Sr. Managers and Directors to develop communications strategies.


• Provides integrated communications recommendations that use the company’s primary communication channels (e.g.,, intranet, website, social media, trade media, etc.).


• Manage the creation of global communications assets, including defining value propositions, development of key messaging, and delivery of creative content.


• Creates and/or manages overarching project briefs and related schedules, coordinates with internal colleagues and outside resources on budget creation and allocation. Assesses progress on objectives and course-corrects as required. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; strong priority management skills.


• Provides timely, relevant updates on project progress and effectiveness; evolving, improving and updating information when needed.


• Manages outside vendor relationships, including identification of appropriate partners, qualification, definition of scope of work, and execution. Provides actionable, constructive feedback to vendors to ensure work is completed on time and on budget.


• Identifies, tracks and reports outcome-focused metrics, translates insights into actionable activities.


• Assists communications leadership and finance with budget creation and allocations.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or Business.  MBA a plus.

• Minimum 5 years of related experience in communications role including integrated marketing communications role including digital/interactive marketing, online communications, website content development, and face to face sales support.


• Knowledge and experience developing strong, clear and measurable marketing communications strategies, goals and plans aligned with business priorities.


• Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills with ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.


• Previous experience in the manufacturing industry a plus.


• Exceptional verbal and written communications skills; articulate and comfortable with public speaking.


• Prior consulting or customer services experience a plus.


• Bilingual (oral and written) a plus.

Working conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

• Working conditions associated with normal office environment.


• Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, copier, printer, etc.).


• Ability to effectively communicate in both small and large groups and settings.


• Ability to traverse between multiple locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania as needed.


• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.


• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
