Communications Specialist

Your Responsibilities

As a Communications Specialist for John Deere Horicon Works located in Horicon, WI you will independently develop and execute communication strategies that help employees understand business priorities, organizational changes, and their impact. You will serve as a communications consultant to leaders and teams, translate complex information into clear and engaging content, and coordinate communication projects across multiple channels and audiences.  You will support the factory leadership team, enhance relationships with the local community, and help deliver a professional visitor experience that reflects the quality and strength of our products. Additionally, you will:

• Develop and execute communication plans supporting business unit, factory, and departmental objectives


• Consult with leaders and teams to identify communication needs, key messages, audiences, and appropriate channels


• Translate complex business information into clear, relevant, and engaging communications


• Research, write, edit, and publish content for employee communications, presentations, meetings, digital platforms, print, and video


• Provide administrative and coordination support for Horicon leadership priorities, meetings, events, and special projects as needed


• Lead communication projects, employee events, engagement campaigns, and strategic initiatives from planning through execution


• Support community outreach, factory tours, and visitor experiences on-site activities, as needed


• Lead intern program to include onboarding and experience coordinator


• Support US & Mexico Manufacturing communications priorities and initiatives under the direction of the US & Mexico Communications Manager

What Skills You Need

• 2+ years of professional communications experience


• Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and verbal communication skills


• Experience independently developing and executing communication plans


• Strong project management, organizational skills, and attention to detail


• Strong consulting and interpersonal skills, including influencing without authority


• Experience developing professional presentations and multimedia content


• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions


• 1+ years of experience using Office 365 Suite of products. 

What Makes You Stand Out

• 1+ year of experience in video editing using Adobe Rush, Premiere Pro or other video editing programs


• Experience working in a manufacturing or operations environment


• Eager to learn new tools and technologies to be innovative with usage of new techniques to engage employees


• Experience measuring communication effectiveness and improving approaches based on results

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field
