Community Engagement Liaison

SUMMARY:

The Community Engagement Liaison serves as a key ambassador for the organization, responsible for building and strengthening relationships between the clinical research site network and the communities it serves. This role leads community outreach initiatives designed to increase awareness of clinical research, expand participant access to study opportunities, and support enrollment and retention goals across a diverse portfolio of clinical trials.

The Community Engagement Liaison develops strategic partnerships with healthcare providers, community organizations, advocacy groups, employers, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to foster trust and enhance the visibility of the organization’s research programs. This individual plays a critical role in ensuring that clinical research opportunities are accessible, inclusive, and representative of the populations impacted by the conditions being studied.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Community Outreach and Partnership Development

• Develop and execute comprehensive community engagement strategies that support organizational growth and study enrollment objectives.
• Establish, cultivate, and maintain relationships with community leaders, healthcare providers, patient advocacy organizations, faith-based institutions, employers, and other community stakeholders.
• Identify and pursue partnership opportunities that enhance community awareness of clinical research and increase participant referrals.
• Serve as a visible representative of the organization within the community, fostering trust and long-term engagement.
• Build and maintain a robust network of referral sources and community partners.

Clinical Trial Awareness and Participant Engagement

• Increase public awareness and understanding of clinical research through educational outreach initiatives.
• Promote available clinical trials and research opportunities to prospective participants and referral partners.
• Support participant recruitment and retention efforts through targeted outreach campaigns and community-based engagement activities.
• Address common misconceptions and barriers to clinical trial participation by providing accurate, culturally sensitive education and resources.
• Collaborate with study teams to identify effective strategies for engaging diverse and underserved populations.

Events, Education, and Public Relations

• Plan, coordinate, and participate in community events, health fairs, educational seminars, networking events, and public health initiatives.
• Deliver presentations regarding clinical research, participant protections, informed consent, and available study opportunities.
• Represent the organization at industry, healthcare, and community forums.
• Assist with the development and distribution of outreach materials, educational content, newsletters, and promotional campaigns.
• Support the organization’s reputation as a trusted clinical research partner within the community.

Strategic Collaboration

• Work closely with investigators, recruitment specialists, study coordinators, marketing personnel, and executive leadership to align outreach activities with enrollment priorities.
• Provide community insights and market intelligence to support recruitment planning and protocol feasibility assessments.
• Participate in diversity and inclusion initiatives aimed at improving equitable access to clinical research.
• Support sponsor, CRO, and client initiatives related to patient engagement and community outreach.

Data Management and Reporting

• Track and maintain records of outreach activities, community partnerships, referrals, and engagement outcomes.
• Monitor recruitment metrics associated with outreach initiatives and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Prepare reports and presentations summarizing community engagement activities, outcomes, and return on investment.
• Utilize participant recruitment platforms to document outreach efforts and referral pipelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and patient recruitment management systems.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Familiarity with FDA regulations, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and human subject protections preferred.
• Experience engaging historically underrepresented populations in healthcare or research settings preferred.
• Bilingual or multilingual communication skills a plus.
• Existing relationships within local healthcare, community, or advocacy networks a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA), in life sciences or healthcare field preferred
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in community engagement, healthcare outreach, patient advocacy, business development, recruitment, public health, or related fields.
• Experience within clinical research, specifically site/site network experience is preferred.
