Job Title: Community Engagement Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Development
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Engagement Coordinator will cultivate and manage strategic partnerships, establish community awareness, community engagement, education and brand representation so as to build awareness of NLS’s services among client communities and strengthen NLS’s impact on client needs. The incumbent will professionally and respectfully represent NLS through strategic partnership/ relationship building, and oversight of community outreach and engagement.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community Outreach and Organizing
● Create, implement and manage a progressive and evolving community impact plan that addresses the needs of the community through policy, systems and environment changes; programs and community education; through the lens of access to justice and equity.
● Build strong volunteer and community relationships to advance the mission of the NLS and improve access to justice in the community.
● Lead and support educational sessions with community members and other stakeholders, to help ensure all partners are aware of how services at NLS can be accessed.
● Develop outreach and educational materials in conjunction with staff (PowerPoints, fliers, newsletters, emails, social media alerts, etc.).
● Schedule, coordinate, promote (and perform, as needed) organizing activities including events, attendance and presentations at community meetings and special events. Schedule, register and coordinate NLS’s participation in such events and maintain internal calendar of events.
Engage/schedule additional NLS staff to represent NLS staff.
● Publicize and promote events on NLS website and social media channels.
● Survey and record community feedback of all outreach events.
● Analyze community feedback to strengthen and support outreach and engagement efforts.
● Maintain accurate database of community contracts, referral agencies and social service organizations.
Partnership Development
● Assess NLS organizational and individual relationships and build new collaborative relationships with organizations whose missions are align and complement NLS.
● Research, document and recommend appropriate events that will maximize NLS’s community recognition.
● Document contact information of interested parties and maintain an internal tracking system
● Attend community events/meetings of partner organizations as advised by the Executive Director and/or Development Department.
● Contribute written content to website, correspondence, agendas, reports, and newsletters.
● Assist the Development Department with social media and/or communications strategy to publicize unit projects and enhance NLS’s recognition in the marketplace.
Project Administration (Community Engagement Programs)
● Guide staff and partners through reporting mechanisms and relevant policies for all community-based projects.
● Contribute to strategic plan for community outreach, impact, and education.
● Support Development Department by identifying appropriate funding sources; recruit partners; craft, construct, and submit effective and successful grant applications.
● Convene meetings of stakeholders from multiple sectors to identify systems level problems, gather data, enhance program resources, and improve services.
● Identify and participate in learning cohorts to develop and implement evaluation protocols and metrics; collaborate with local and national evaluation experts to provide rigorous program evaluation and prepare reports based upon gathered data.
● Provide other general administration and program support as needed
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong computer knowledge and skills particularly Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service skills
- Experience working collaboratively with staff and other organizations to achieve goals.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Strong presentation skills, experience preferred
- Sensitivity and commitment towards the NLS community and client base
- Candidate will receive training on domestic and sexual violence dynamics and trauma impact so as to identify and speak to trauma-informed services.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor degree is preferred. Extensive outreach experience may be considered as substitute.
- Current drivers’ license and ability to travel in 4 county service area
- Excellent computer skills with emphasis on MS Office and PowerPoint
- Graphic Design a plus (Canva, Adobe Suite)
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
