Job Description - Community Programs Assistant


Job Opportunity: Community Programs Assistant

Overview:

Centro de la Familia is seeking a motivated and community-focused Community Programs Assistant, responsible for outreach and promotion of educational programming within the Spanish-speaking community. Supports recruitment, retention, and advocacy of services for youth and adult learners. Assists with family needs assessments and contributes to program implementation, coordination, and operational support. A flexible schedule is required to accommodate evening programming and occasional weekend events..

Key Responsibilities:  

· Support implementation and facilitation of core programs across age groups  (e.g., Nuevo Día, Safe Dates, Abriendo Puertas Plazas Comunitarias, etc.).

· Assist with home visits to assess and respond to family needs.

· Support outreach and promotion of programs at community events, schools, and partner sites.

· Build and maintain relationships with referral sources and community partners.

· Ensure timely data entry and assist with reporting requirements.

· Maintain accurate participant and program documentation while ensuring confidentiality.

· Assist in creating promotional materials and supporting logistics for events and scheduling.

· Provide general program and administrative support as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with staff, participants, and partners.
  • Execute all agency and program policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor to fulfill agency goals.

Special Requirements:

· Must be available until 6:30 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

· Must plan and attend monthly Saturday field trips.

· Willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends is required.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.
  • Preferred: Experience working with youth, children, or in community program settings.
  • Fluent bilingual skills in English and Spanish highly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one, in small groups, and with community organizations, schools, and local officials.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages. Strong interpersonal skills with cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Salary Description

$17.78 - 19.50
