Compassionate Alzheimer’s Caregiver Needed – Waukee

Shifts Available:

Overnights: Every day 9 pm - 8 am

Monday: 8 am - 2 pm

Tuesday:12 pm - 5 pm

Thursday: 5 pm - 9 pm

Friday: 5 pm - 9 pm

Saturday: 8 am - 5 pm & 5 pm - 9 pm

Sunday: 8 am- 5 pm & 5 pm - 9 pm 

We are seeking a kind, patient, and dependable caregiver to support a client living with Alzheimer’s who wishes to remain safely at home with her spouse. This is a respite-focused position, meaning your role is to provide structure, safety, and companionship while giving her spouse a meaningful break.

This client is pleasant, gentle, and does best in a calm, low-stimulation environment. She benefits from a caregiver who can offer quiet companionship, simple reassurance, and one-step guidance throughout the visit.

Care needs include:

• Providing calm, step-by-step direction for daily tasks


• Staying physically present during walking and stairs due to fall risk


• Supporting medication reminders by setting them up and remaining present


• Encouraging fluids throughout the visit


• Offering gentle companionship while preserving dignity and comfort


• Taking full responsibility for care during the shift so the spouse can rest


• Help with bathing and toileting. 

The ideal caregiver is compassionate, observant, steady, and comfortable working with memory care clients. Experience with Alzheimer’s or dementia care is preferred.

This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who understands that excellent care is not rushed. It is patient, present, and respectful.
