SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Compliance Specialist is responsible for the overall compliance operation of MCAR. This position functions as an objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/ concerns within the organization. The position ensures that management and employees are in compliance with rules and regulations of regulatory agencies, that company policies and procedures are being followed, and that behavior in the organization meets the company's Standards of Conduct. This position reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer.
ESSENTIAL JOB DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborates with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.
Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigation procedures through use of audits and reviews.
Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues/ concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved.
Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, works with the departments on corrective action plans, provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future, and follows up on the corrective actions.
Provides reports on a regular basis and, as directed or requested, keeps the senior team informed of operation and progress of compliance efforts through reviews/ audits.
Maintains an effective compliance communication program for MCAR, including promoting use of the Compliance Hotline; heightened awareness of the Standards of Conduct; and understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures.
Works with Human Resources Department and others as appropriate to develop/ train effective compliance training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers during orientation and in-services.
Monitors regulatory requirements in all departments. Is responsible for overall waiver compliance, Incident Management Quarterlies, Quality Management Quarterlies, monthly Medicaid Batch Reviews, and Quality Assurance and Improvement as directed by the Chief Compliance Officer.
This position will complete the ODP Certified Investigator Training within one (1) year of employment and responsible for completing recertification requirements within three (3) years thereafter. This position also will complete CPI Instructor Training and Medication Administration Train the Trainer training within one (1) year as well as completing the recertification requirements to maintain certification.
Complete investigations as a Certified Investigator for allegations of abuse and as needed.
Work is reviewed by the Chief Compliance Officer through meetings, observations and written evaluations on an as needed basis during the first year of employment in the position, and on a yearly basis thereafter.
Completes other duties as assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer.
