Are you a mechanical expert who thrives on solving complex equipment challenges and improving reliability across critical infrastructure? This is an opportunity to take ownership of compression fleet performance and drive reliability excellence across a growing pipeline operation.
We are seeking a Compression Reliability Engineer to provide advanced technical expertise supporting compressor stations and natural gas compression systems. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep mechanical knowledge with strong analytical and project leadership skills. It offers a strong mix of strategic reliability leadership and hands-on technical involvement.
This role is eligible for our client's domestic relocation program (must be willing to relocate to the Spokane, WA area). Alternate facility locations in the surrounding area may be considered based on the successful candidates level of experience.
What You'll Be Doing:
Serve as the primary technical resource for compressor station operability and reliability issues
Act as key contact for real-time fleet monitoring system notifications
Lead predictive maintenance initiatives including vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and performance diagnostics
Provide recommendations based on condition monitoring data, borescope inspections, oil/coolant analysis, and test results
Scope, estimate, and lead capital and maintenance projects
Support field operations during major equipment failures and provide on-site technical guidance
Develop job plans to ensure consistent, high-quality maintenance execution
Mentor and train maintenance personnel to optimize equipment performance
Review operating and maintenance records for accuracy and diagnostic insights
Maintain equipment history and overhaul tracking documentation
What You Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 4-6 years of relevant experience OR 10+ years of industry experience in lieu of a degree
Expert knowledge of natural gas compression systems and related equipment
Experience with engines, compressors, turbines, alignment systems, and diagnostic tools
Strong understanding of DOT 192 (preferred)
SAP experience (preferred)
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and resolve complex technical challenges
Strong communication skills across operational and leadership teams
Additional Requirements:
Valid driver's license with safe driving record
Ability to work in hazardous industrial environments
Availability for extended hours and after-hours support as needed
Travel to compressor stations, including overnight stays
