Construction Laborer - Windsor

Elder's Construction laborer performs hands-on work that keeps the jobsite productive, organized, and safe. This role provides direct support to Superintendents, Carpenters, and other trades by handling materials, tools, and equipment while maintaining a clean, hazard-free work environment. Success requires reliability, physical stamina, and a strong safety mindset, along with the ability to follow direction and work well with the crew. By supporting daily jobsite operations, the Laborer contributes directly to project schedule, safety, and overall efficiency.

AREAS OF FOCUS  

1. Jobsite Support (80%) – Provides hands-on support to Superintendents, Carpenters, and other skilled trades, following the weekly labor schedule and completing assigned tasks accurately and on time. Moves, stores, and distributes construction      materials, tools, and equipment throughout the jobsite, and keeps the site, streets, and sidewalks clean and free of debris. Operates hand and power tools and supports specialized equipment such as scaffolding, skid steers, street sweepers, and forklifts, while maintaining assigned tool inventory.
2. Safety & Jobsite Compliance (20%) – Follows OSHA regulations and company safety practices, uses PPE correctly, and identifies and reports hazards to keep the crew and jobsite safe.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

Jobsite Support

Serves as a reliable team member on the jobsite supporting Superintendents, Carpenters, and other trades while keeping materials, tools, and the site itself organized and ready to work.

1. Provides hands-on support and assistance to Superintendents, Carpenters, and, as directed, other skilled trades by following the weekly labor schedule and completing assigned tasks accurately and on time.
2. Moves, loads, unloads, and distributes construction materials and tools throughout the jobsite including items weighing 50 pounds or more, using proper lifting technique and equipment as needed.
3. Maintains a clean, organized jobsite by keeping materials properly stored, streets and sidewalks clear of debris, and finishes protected.
4. Operates hand and power tools and supports specialized equipment such as scaffolding, skid steers, street sweepers, and forklifts, while maintaining assigned tool inventory.
5. Builds relationships and collaborates effectively with the team, both internally and externally.
6. Gains exposure to plans, specifications, and quality standards while learning to handle tools and equipment properly.

Safety & Jobsite Compliance

Helps maintain a safe jobsite by following established safety practices and speaking up when something doesn’t look right.

1. Complies with OSHA regulations, the company safety manual, and PPE requirements.
2. Attends toolbox talks, asks questions when unsure, and reports potential hazards to supervisors promptly.
3. Recognizes basic risks associated with construction tasks and uses the pre-task plan to work safely.
4. Cleans and prepares the jobsite to eliminate hazards and promote a safe, efficient work environment.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Experience working as a laborer on commercial construction projects or related field is preferred.

2. Must have a current and valid United States Driver’s License.

3. Must have competent written and verbal communication skills.

4. Basic knowledge of construction.

5. Knowledge of safe operation with basic hand and power tools.

FIELD:

· While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The team member is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop or kneel.

· The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

· While performing the duties of this job, this position regularly works outdoors in various weather conditions. The team member frequently works near moving equipment, occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
