CEG is seeking a driven, field-focused Construction Project Manager to lead projects from pre-construction through final closeout. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who understands the realities of construction execution, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is accountable for delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget. As a Construction Project Manager at CEG, you will take ownership of the full construction lifecycle—coordinating field operations, managing subcontractors, maintaining schedules, and ensuring all work meets strict federal, safety, and quality standards.

What You’ll Do:
Construction & Project Execution
- Serve as the Contractor's lead for the overall management and delivery of design-build projects, from award through final acceptance and closeout
- Lead construction projects from mobilization through closeout, ensuring successful field execution
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules, work plans, and construction timelines
- Oversee daily construction activities, ensuring alignment with scope, specifications, and contract requirements
- Coordinate closely with superintendents, field staff, and subcontractors to drive progress
Design-Build Management
- Manage the design phase alongside the Designer of Record (DOR), including design schedules, submittals, and resolution of Government review comments
- Lead or attend Post-Award Kickoff, Design Presentation/Development, Design Intent Drawing (DID), and on-board design review meetings
- Confirm that the design can be built within the project budget, and identify cost trade-offs when needed
Field Operations & Coordination
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely and efficient performance
- Conduct site visits and monitor construction progress, quality, and safety compliance
- Resolve field issues, conflicts, and delays quickly to maintain project momentum
Client & Government Interface
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, including federal and Department of Defense representatives
- Maintain strong communication with contracting officers, inspectors, and stakeholders
- Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and performance
- Co-lead partnering sessions with the Government Construction Manager, and attend preconstruction conferences and schedule update meetings with the Contracting Officer's representative
- Lead monthly schedule update site walks with the Superintendent, COR, Scheduler, and QA representative
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to safety standards, including OSHA and site-specific requirements
- Support an independent Contractor Quality Control (CQC) program and ensure all work complies with federal contract requirements and regulations
- Support QA/QC processes, inspections, and documentation requirements
Budget & Risk Management
- Track project budgets, costs, and forecasts to ensure financial performance
- Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns
- Prepare and present project reports, including schedule updates, cost tracking, and risk assessments
What You Bring:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a closely related technical field (an additional 10 years of construction management experience may substitute for a degree on some contracts)
- Minimum of 10 years of design-build construction management experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, solve problems, and present findings clearly
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels
Preferred Experience & Credentials
- Experience working on federal government or Department of Defense projects is highly desirable
- At least one of the following active credentials (required for some federal contracts): Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Professional Constructor (CPC), DBIA Designated Design-Build Professional, or Professional License (PE preferred; VA, MD, DC, or PA licensure valued)
- OSHA 10, 30, and/or 40-hour certification
- USACE/NAVFAC Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) certification
Project Manager qualifications are reviewed by the Government as part of Key Personnel submissions, and proof of qualifications may be requested at any point during the project.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $85,000 – $125,000 per year (commensurate with experience and location)
