Job Description - Contracts Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:
Draft, negotiate, and monitor aircraft sales contract activities, domestic and international. Responsible for contract processing procedures and activities, reviews contract requests and proposals, and serves in a liaison capacity across departments. Works closely with the customer, sales team, and aircraft managers to ensure effective working relationships and resolution of contract issues. Will be responsible for contracting activities in support of the Textron Aviation Sales team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Analyzes contract requests, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, corporate policies and business unit procedure.

·       Drafts and negotiates contractual instruments.

·       Proofread, edit, and fact-check contractual documents for accuracy and consistency.

·       Communicates contract policy and practice to internal business teams.

·       Ensures contract review, approval, and execution in accordance with corporate and/or business unit guidelines.

·       Prepares and administers routine correspondence, aircraft deposits, and contract documentation to ensure timely and coordinated submittal.

·       Prepares, organizes, and maintains contract records and files documenting contract performance and compliance.

·       May conduct research to support contract audit and or facilitate business unit contracting trends.

·       Performs contract closeout activities.

·       Manages the invoicing and receipt of the intermediary deposits, payments for reimbursement of deposits, overpayments, and commissions.

·       Analyzes significant, and/or unique contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, and corporate policies and business unit procedure.

·       Works with Customer Account Managers to ensure that the aircraft contractual obligations can be met.

·       May be required to work with customer or outside attorneys to negotiate contract terms and language.

·       Responsible for mitigating company risk and compliance in the face of new and pre-existing laws.

·       Responsible for understanding the general terms and conditions of commercial contracts

·       Works as a communication bridge between in-house legal counsel, and other functional departments for resolution of contract issues and disputes throughout the contract life cycle.

·       May participate in development of less complex business alliances and partnering agreements.

·       Administration of domestic and international contracts from order placement through delivery.

·       Serve as primary interface between customers, company and applicable regulatory support departments/agencies as required to bring the contract to a successful conclusion.

·       Periodic travel to the facility in Independence, Kansas, may be required to support aircraft deliveries.

·       Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

·       Bachelor’s degree required in Legal, Business, or related field.

·       Minimum 2 years related work experience required.

·       Sales, project management, or previous aviation industry experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to draft contractual instruments in accordance with prescribed templates and guidelines.

  • Working knowledge of corporate policies, practices and procedures, coupled with ability to identify required improvement to established policies.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of legal contract concepts, negotiation strategies, efficient administration and looking for ways to improve automation of contract processes.

  • Good organizational, presentation, leadership and team-building skills.

  • Use of independent judgment and creativity applied to resolution of contract issues.

  • Detail oriented, good organizational skills, ability to multitask on several projects and collaborate with other teammates.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

  • Professional demeanor, excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with the public, customers and interdepartmental personnel.

  • Willingness to work in an office setting.
