The African Psychological Association (APA) is a scientific and professional organization that represents psychologists and the mental health industry in every African country. The APA seeks to educate Africans and the diaspora about psychology, behavioral health and mental wellness. We seek to promote psychology as a science and support appropriate practice. We hope to foster the education and training of future psychological researchers, practitioners and educators. We act as advocates for the use psychological knowledge and practice to inform public policy and champion the application of psychology to promote human rights, overall health, wellness, dignity and esteem.

• Source and create content for the www.PsychologyinAfrica.com Resource Map and manage the release of new material
• Ownership of content related to assigned country
• Support the campaign around improving mental health services in Africa

Job Description

• Sourcing content for the Psychology in Africa content site
• Adding new content once per week (original commentary on activities within assigned country)
• Reporting on developments related to identified African Psychological Association Affiliated Projects
• Engaging in conversations with individuals who may comment on posts.
• Liaising with the Regional Content Director and Regional Project Director to discuss development of country content.

Key tasks

• Writing and proof reading original articles, creating short videos and sourcing photography to keep the content site interesting
• Maintaining integrity as a contributing member of the mental health sector
• Keeping track of related subjects in local and national media of assigned country
• Publicizing new content through other social media platforms (e.g, twitter, facebook etc.)

• Deep rooted and demonstrable interest in the psychological sciences.

• Deep rooted and demonstrable interest in the African region.

• Excellent writing skills with a strong vocabulary and meticulous attention to Spelling & Grammar.

• A creative independent worker who takes initiative when completing tasks.
