Job Summary


The Electrical Controls Panel Wiring Technician position is responsible for assembly and wiring of electrical components for custom control panels.  The technician will build controls to drawing, including layout and physical mounting of components to the back panel and enclosure, and wiring of all components.



Motors and Controls Corporation is a small family-owned industrial controls electrical distributor.  We have been in business for 48 years.  We are looking for someone to become part of our team.  Quality and craftsmanship are very important to us.  As a small company, we stake our reputation on every panel and every job.


 


General Accountabilities



  • Panel layout: using drawing and BOM, verify all parts are accounted for, then layout panel. Drill and tap mount all hardware and create label packet.

  • Door layout: using drawing, layout door for components cut, drill, mount and wire.

  • Positions and fastens parts or wires using hand tools, power hand tools and solders connections following prescribed assembly methods.

  • Performs electrical and mechanical assembly of control boxes and modules.

  • Routing and bundling of wire neatly to meet wiring and quality standards.

  • Point to point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, I/O Modules, VFDs, Interfaces, & Instrumentation.

  • Wire panels using drawings for correct size and color of wire and crimping appropriate connectors.

  • Perform quality control with schematic, check all connections points, wire numbers, conductivity components and tug test.

  • Visually inspects completed units per conformance and specifications and prepares for final inspection and labeling.

  • Notify project coordinator when additional supplies are needed or obvious errors are detected.

  • Ability to properly manage time and finish builds on schedule.

  • Troubleshoot panels as needed to eliminate wiring errors and component malfunctions.

  • Maintain red line drawing mark-ups of changes required during fabrication.

  • Communicate red line changes for revisions to drawings.

  • Communicate effectively with all team members.


Other Skills



  • Ability to apply concepts such as basic math skills, fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions to practical situations, and able to convert decimals into inches.

  • Must be able to read and interpret a tape measure, drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, and bills of material (BOM's).

  • Continue to grow, gain knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.

  • Able to lift and/or move frequently up to 25lbs and occasionally up to 50lbs.

  • Must have average manual dexterity with ability to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and balance.

  • Able to stand for prolonged periods on a concrete floor.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, and color vision acuity.

  • Keep yourself and teammates aware of health and safety practices and activities by actively observing fellow employee work practices and incorporating safety.


Education/Experience



  • Minimum Education: High School or GED

  • Minimum Experience: Preferably 2 years of work directly related to the industry

  • Preferred Technical Training: Rudimentary understanding of electrical systems, AC, DC, Single and Three Phase

Pay Range and Description of Benefits:




  • Salary Range:  $20.00 to $37.00/hr

    • Assembler I $20.00 to $25.00/hr

    • Assembler II $24.00 to 30.00/hr

    • Control Panel Wiring Technician II $27.00 to 37.00/hr



  • Starting Range:  $20.00 to $25.00/hr
