Corporate Controller – Your Job Duties
You will lead, develop, and mentor the corporate accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit, and customer service teams (total of approximately 9 team members including two direct reports in the Assistant Controller and Credit Manager).
Oversee and manage all corporate accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet account reconciliations, and journal entries
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP with a focus on accurate and timely financial reporting
Implement process efficiencies across financial reporting, payments, and credit / collections functions
Enhance, implement, and maintain effective internal controls with a focus on best practices and process improvements
Manage financial audits and serve as a key contact for external auditors
Manage tax compliance and filing requirements in coordination with tax advisors
Support the CFO in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, standards and regulatory requirements
Support contract reviews, insurance matters and other projects as needed
Corporate Controller – You Have (Required Skills, Experience & Team Fit):
Industry experience in consumer goods, wholesale distribution and/or retail
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles
Experience leading and developing teams and implementing process improvements
Experience utilizing an accounting ERP system
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, vLookups, complex multi-tab spreadsheets)
You might have:
Prior experience working in public accounting or a CPA designation
Prior experience working in an accounting role in the apparel industry
Experience with budgeting, forecasting or FP&A
