The Business
Our client is a $200M+ manufacturer of custom building products with 9 plants across 7 states and a history of 20% year-over-year growth. Now owned by a public company with a forever-hold strategy, the business operates to SOX standards. Every order is engineered and built to customer specifications, which requires disciplined project-based accounting and accurate month-end WIP.

The Opportunity
The Controller reports directly to the CFO and owns financial controls for the operating company and its holding entities. The role leads a team of 12, with the Director of Revenue Accounting, AP Manager, Property Tax Manager, and a Senior Accountant reporting directly.

This leader works from the plant floor, partnering with plant leaders to train and develop people and solve operating problems. The Controller also leads the accounting system conversion, builds and hires the accounting team, and works with the CFO on bank relationships, audits, and debt, equity, and lease financing.

What You Will Need to Be Successful

• Controller leadership in a multi-plant custom manufacturing company, with hands-on cost accounting across multiple legal entities
• Public company reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
• Proven inventory control and valuation, including WIP, in a build-to-order operation
• A completed accounting system conversion that you led
• Plant-level budgets and forecasts that operators rely on for staffing, purchasing, and production decisions
• A track record of hiring, training, and developing accounting teams
• Time on the plant floor partnering with plant managers on cost, margin, and production numbers
