Controls Engineer

CONTROLS ENGINEER (Permanent)


Our client, an established & growing international manufacturing organization with its US headquarters in WNY, is looking to add a Controls Engineer to their growing team. 

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily design, development, and implementation responsibilities that support industrial automation and drive manufacturing operations
  
  
  


• Collaborate with Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently
  
  
  


• Design, program, and maintain PLC-based control systems for automated manufacturing equipment and processes
  
  
  


• Troubleshoot complex electrical, automation, and control system issues to determine the root cause
  
  
  


• Create corrective action plans and ensure swift implementation in order to minimize downtime and improve operational performance
  
  
  


• Analyze & modify PLC programs, HMI applications, and associated control system software ensuring accurate documentation at all times
  
  
  


• Review and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical documentation to support system design, troubleshooting, and implementation
  
  
  


• Provide support regarding new equipment commissioning, startup activities, system upgrades, and continuous improvement projects
  
  
  


• Partner with various internal team members—Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance, and Production—to identify root causes of equipment and process issues and implement effective corrective actions
  
  
  


• Ensure control system designs and modifications maintain compliance with applicable safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal engineering specifications
  
  
  


• Maintain accurate documentation of control system changes, including software revisions, I/O modifications, and logic updates
  
  
  


• Evaluate, recommend, and implement emerging automation technologies, including robotics, machine vision, motion control, and advanced manufacturing solutions
  
  
  


• Support efforts to improve system reliability, equipment performance, process consistency, and overall manufacturing efficiency
  
  
  


• Work well in a team environment as well as independently
  
  
  


• Other duties as assigned/as necessary
  
  
  

Details:

• Position is full-time, direct hire
  
  
  


• $90,000 – $125,000 annually depending on experience
  
  
  


• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related
  
  
  


• 3+ years’ experience in industrial automation and controls systems in a manufacturing environment
  
  
  


• Proficient in PLC programming/troubleshooting; experience with multiple PLC platforms & automation architectures
  
  
  


• Experience with motion control, robotics, and/or vision systems
  
  
  


• Ability to read/interpret control drawings & electrical schematics
  
  
  


• Great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  
  
  


• Strong organization skills, analytical, and time management skills
