Job Description - Controls Engineering Manager

CONTROLS ENGINEERING MANAGER IN CORVALLIS, OR.

**This role requires you to be based in Corvallis, Oregon or surrounding areas**

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited university. Other engineering degrees are also considered
  • 6+ years of experience designing complex automated systems as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams
  • Skilled at communicating and creating a cohesive team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to work closely with and maintain healthy relationships through fast paced high-pressure project cycles with clients and team members.
  • Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed up to 40% 
  • Must possess valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Background check required. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experienced in discrete automation, controls engineering, systems integration, and/or robotics  
  • Experienced in leading technical interviews and candidate screening
  • Comfortable having difficult conversations
  • Leads by example
  • Enjoys mentorship and coaching
  • Experienced in consumer products or medical devices industries
  • Proficiency in presenting engineering designs, proposals, and reports
  • Experience in several of the following environments:
  • PLC – Rockwell, Siemens, Codesys (Beckhoff, Bosch)
  • HMI – Rockwell, Siemens, Maple Systems, Wonderware, Inductive Automation Ignition
  • Industrial Robotics – Fanuc, Epson, Denso, ABB
  • Familiarity with Virtual Machines, Linux, embedded systems

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Resource Allocation
    • Grow and develop your team’s capacity and capabilities as needed to meet the demand for resources and services
    • With support from recruiting, Program Directors, and Engineering Directors, responsible for hiring AC-caliber candidates
    • Responsible for allocation of team resources to projects and team utilization
    • Ensure team members are performing at the desired level.  Address performance issues of team members
  • Tools & Processes
    • Identify and manage the team’s tools and resources including software packages and hardware
    • Working closely with the Operations Manager and Engineering Director, responsible for the development of and adherence to standards, processes, tools, templates, and best practices that build and sustain the AC brand
    • Ensure compliance of your team to AC’s procedures as specified in the QMS and other procedures specified outside of the QMS
  • Management of Direct Reports
    • Support and grow direct reports through coaching, mentorship, and training. 
    • With the support of HR, address performance issues through coaching, disciplinary action, or dismissal
    • Facilitate performance reviews and administrate merit increases, bonusing, and promotions

Salary range for this position is based on national rates. Exact compensation may very based on skills, experience, and location. Base Salary: $90,000.00 - $160,000.00
