Position Purpose
Responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals while ensuring compliance with menus, dietary needs, and food safety standards. Maintains a clean, organized kitchen and supports the culinary team to deliver a positive dining experience for residents.
Qualifications
Must be able to read, write and carry out directions in English
Experience in food preparation and professional cooking (healthcare/senior living preferred)
ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain, certification cost covered by the company)
Knowledge of dietary needs, especially in geriatric populations
Strong organization and time management
Minimum of 18 years of age
Must be able to pass the state mandated criminal background screening and pre-employment drug screening for illegal substances
Essential Functions
Prepare meals according to menu, policies, and dietary requirements
Ensure meals are served on time and at proper temperatures
Offer substitutions when needed to meet resident preferences
Monitor plate returns and resident intake and communicate trends or concerns to their supervisor
Complete required documentation (temps, food logs, etc.)
Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices
Minimize waste and properly utilize food and supplies
Supervise and support kitchen staff during shift
Assist with cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining areas
Report equipment or facility issues promptly
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist residents in all aspects of food prep and service
Handle emotional and physical demands of job duties
