Job Description - Copy Writer


POSITION PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Copywriter position requires expert writing and editing skills, with the ability to effectively communicate brand voice and messaging. This position works collaboratively with the Marketing, Sales, and other cross-functional teams to create exceptional brand stories and ensure that on-point messaging is developed, communicated, and properly maintained. The Copywriter is responsible for creating content and copy for all forms of communication, including drafting product positioning statements, fact sheets, emails, video scripts, and promotional campaigns and catalogs. The Copywriter must have excellent writing and editorial skills and a strong grasp of grammar, punctuation, style, and copyediting rules.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Take project ownership while also collaborating with colleagues and partners to shape language, tone, and voice, and to develop concise, effective messaging to execute on-brand communications.
  • Articulate ideas, provide writing support, and craft copy to meet creative needs across different mediums, including print, packaging, web, blog, social media, video, and event content.
  • Collaborate with marketing director and team to brand, develop, and deliver effective marketing copy, according to selling strategies.
  • Write and proofread copy for grammar, spelling, usage, and clarity prior to publication.
  • Edit and fact check content generated by other team members.
  • Use SEO practices to optimize articles and increase visibility.
  • Research industry-related topics and identify gaps in our content.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in English or Marketing (or related field) and 2-3 years of experience with copy writing/copy editing.
  • Excellent creative writing skills with expert editing and proof-reading skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytics and research abilities.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills – both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • High level of proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in the English language required. Additional language proficiency is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Noise, dust, lighting, temperature and physical/ergonomic hazards are typical of those usually found in an office environment.
