Core Lab Supervisor (Evening Shift, Multispecialty & Research Hospital)

Supervises core laboratory staff and participates in the performance of various core laboratory procedures. Guides the day to day operations of the core laboratory.

• Prepares work schedules and assigns duties to laboratory staff.


• Performs experimental testing procedures and suggest changes to increase the validity and reliability of results.


• Ensures validity and accuracy of test results.


• Instructs trainees in procedures and techniques of performing tests.


• Secures media and supplies for clinical testing and research studies and manages supply requests.


• Directs the technical activities of the core laboratory and assigned laboratory staff.


• Assists in the review and revision of laboratory policies and procedures in preparation for laboratory inspections by various regulatory/accrediting agencies.


• Performs all other duties as assigned.

• Advanced technical skills in performing and analyzing various clinical laboratory tests and procedures.


• Knowledge of general laboratory, safety and quality control, principles, techniques, and terminology.


• Excellent customer service skills, for both internal and external customers.


• Ability to work in a Laboratory Information System.


• Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).


• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to follow written and verbal instructions.


• Ability to keep accurate, detailed records.


• Ability to use complex medical equipment.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Science required.

EXPERIENCE:

• Six (6) years of progressive experience in a CAP/CLIA accredited clinical laboratory required


• Two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:

• Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathology or equivalent.
