Correctional Corporal SII - Mountain View Correctional Facility, Charleston.MDOC is destigmatizing corrections for the betterment of all Maine communities. The Bureau of Human Resources is accepting applications to establish a register to fill a vacancy located at the Mountain View Correctional Facility
This position conducts investigative and protective services work involving the custody, security, discipline, treatment, and rehabilitation of people committed to an adult correctional facility. As a Correctional Corporal, your responsibilities entail developing and gathering intelligence information from resident technology, specifically securing and protecting the resident education network and technology from being used in ways that cause victimization, disruption, or other inappropriate or illegal use. Other work includes performing investigations authorized by pre¬ service law enforcement credentials, which may involve properly searching and seizing evidence, issuing summons and/or search warrants, or arresting civilians outside a correctional facility. This position has a 42.5 hour/week standard work week.
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is investigative and protective services work involving the custody, security, discipline, treatment, and rehabilitation of persons committed to an adult correctional facility. Responsibilities entail developing and gathering intelligence information concerning resident involvement in gangs, strong-arming, and other activities that pose a risk to the facility. Work includes performing investigations as authorized by pre-service law enforcement credentials which may involve properly searching and seizing evidence, issuing summons and/or search warrants, or arresting civilians outside a correctional facility. Work is performed under general supervision.
REPRESENTATIVE TASKS: (A position may not be assigned all the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all the duties that may be assigned).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To qualify, you must have two (2) years of experience as a Correctional Officer in a federal, state, or county correctional facility.
Licensing Requirement: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
-Completion of the Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Course (Includes passing MCJA PFT and Alert Test).
-Certification of completion of the Basic Corrections Training Course.
Possession of a valid Maine driver's license.

If you have met the minimum qualifications, you will be placed on a register for this job classification with the Bureau of Human Resources.
Certification for Vacancies
Eligibility lists for each classification are comprised of applicants who have successfully completed all phases of the examination process.
When a request to fill a vacancy is received, the names of the eligible candidates will be sent to the requested agency.
The normal order of referrals is:
1. Employees on lay-off status from Maine State Government
2. Current employees of the hiring agency
3. Current Maine State Employees in other hiring agencies
4. Candidates on reemployment status (former Maine State Employees)
5. Candidates not currently employed by the State of Maine
