Cosmetic Repair Technician

About the role

Tri-Imaging is looking for an experienced Cosmetic Repair Technician to own the cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment of our medical imaging equipment. This is a hands-on role for someone who can jump in, work independently and take pride in making worn equipment look and perform like new. If you've spent time in an auto body shop or repairing plastics and you want to bring those skills to the medical device field, we'd like to talk to you.

What you'll do

• Restore the cosmetic condition of medical imaging equipment, covers and panels, including plastic repair, filling, sanding, priming, painting, color matching and finishing.


• Repair cracked, broken or damaged plastic parts using plastic welding, adhesives, fillers and other repair methods.


• Disassemble, clean, inspect and reassemble equipment and subassemblies.


• Replace mechanical hardware, fasteners, covers, panels and non-electrical parts.


• Do functional and visual inspections to confirm cosmetic quality and mechanical integrity.


• Work independently and take ownership of the cosmetic refurbishment process, and suggest process and quality improvements.


• Write, review and update work instructions and other quality documents.


• Record refurbishment work and inspection results accurately in our internal tracking systems.


• Spot structural or mechanical issues and bring in engineering or other technicians when needed.


• Keep a clean, organized and safe workspace.


• Follow ISO 13485, our internal quality system and all safety requirements.

What you bring

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in automotive repair, auto body or collision repair, or cosmetic refurbishment.


• Proven plastic repair skills (plastic welding, fillers and adhesives, texture matching).


• Paint and refinishing experience, including surface prep, color matching and spray application.


• A strong eye for detail and high standards for cosmetic quality.


• Comfort working independently with little direct supervision.


• Skill with hand tools, power tools and basic shop equipment.


• Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry (Microsoft Office).


• A proactive attitude, a strong work ethic and good communication and teamwork skills.


• A high school diploma or equivalent. Technical, vocational or automotive training is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience in a regulated industry (medical devices, aerospace, automotive OEM) or knowledge of ISO 13485.


• I-CAR, ASE or similar certifications.


• Experience with FDM 3D printing, CAD or ERP and inventory systems.


• Familiarity with multimeters and ESD-safe handling of electronic parts.

Work environment and physical requirements

• Shop and warehouse setting where temperatures may vary. Office areas are climate controlled.


• Regularly lift 25–50 lbs, with occasional heavier lifts using hoists, slings or hand trucks.


• Long periods of standing, plus bending, kneeling, reaching and detailed handwork.


• PPE required as needed (gloves, safety glasses, composite-toe boots, respirator for painting).


• You'll work around imaging systems, which can include limited exposure to X-ray and MRI environments, high voltage, moving parts, cleaning and disinfecting chemicals, and decontaminated parts. We provide safety training and procedures for all of these.
