Job Description - Crisis Services Advocate

Description

We are looking for a compassionate and team-orientated Crisis Services Advocate to join our Crisis Services team providing crisis service delivery, including agency Intakes, walk-in services, needs assessments, safety planning, information and referrals, assessing level of risk, providing information about crime victim’s rights and agency services, answering the 24/7 Crisis Line, and supporting Survivors Advocacy Team (SAT) response. This position includes participation in an on-call rotation for SAT response.   This position requires daytime/evening weekday and daytime weekend availability with an anticipated schedule of Sunday (8am-4pm) and Monday-Thursday (12pm-8pm). Schedule is subject to change based on agency need.

Reports to: Executive Program Director of Crisis Services

Supervises: Assigned volunteers and interns

Primary Functions

 

  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Conduct agency intakes, including needs and risk assessments, service planning, and shelter eligibility screening
  • Respond to crisis line calls, walk-in clients, and Survivors’ Advocacy Team (SAT) response needs, providing crisis intervention, information, and referrals
  • Support Survivors’ Advocacy Team (SAT) response, including coordination and dispatch to hospitals and law enforcement agencies, as needed
  • Assess client needs and connect clients to appropriate resources, including agency programs and community services
  • Provide information and education on protective orders, crime victims’ compensation, Child Protective Services, and available agency services
  • Coordinate with external partners, including mobile crisis units, as appropriate to support client safety 
  • Provide SAT on-call coverage, responding onsite to area hospitals and law enforcement agencies to provide support and crisis intervention
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential client records and documentation
  • Apply professional judgment to client interactions, decision-making, and problem-solving in crisis situations
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development as required
  • Maintain availability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening, weekend and Holiday hours as scheduled based on program needs

Requirements

Prerequisites:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of relationship violence, sexual assault, and trauma informed interventions

Preferences:

  • Excellent oral and written Spanish highly preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Ability to easily climb stairs
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time

Salary Description

$52,500-$55,000
