Job Description - CT Technologist

Job Summary

Under the direction of a radiologist, performs CAT Scan procedures at a technical level requiring independent judgment, initiative, and technical expertise in diagnostic imaging. Responsible for preparing patients, operating CT imaging equipment, producing high-quality cross-sectional images, assisting during specialized procedures, and ensuring compliance with radiation safety standards. Supports patient care by maintaining imaging records, processing images for interpretation, and assisting with departmental operations and training activities. Works collaboratively with radiologists, technologists, and healthcare staff to ensure efficient and accurate diagnostic imaging services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients and imaging rooms for CAT Scan procedures.
  • Enter patient information into imaging and medical record systems.
  • Position patients correctly for scans and obtain appropriate scout images.
  • Operate CAT Scan systems and imaging equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Adjust imaging protocols and sequences according to procedural requirements.
  • Assist radiologists during biopsy and imaging-guided procedures.
  • Monitor procedures from the control room and support injector operations when necessary.
  • Process, label, photograph, and display scan images for radiologist interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate records of image slices, injections, and procedure details.
  • Follow all radiation safety procedures and regulations for patients and staff.
  • Train students and staff in CAT Scan procedures and imaging protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Perform additional radiologic technologist duties as required.
  • Support departmental workflow and complete related assigned tasks.

Minimum Requirements / Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited radiologic technology training program.
  • Licensed/Registered Radiologic Technologist certification required.
  • ARRT Certification in CT required.
  • Knowledge of CAT Scan systems and radiographic imaging procedures.
  • Experience using medical imaging and patient tracking systems.
  • Ability to work independently and apply technical judgment in imaging procedures.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety protocols and patient care standards.
  • Ability to assist during diagnostic and biopsy procedures.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Associate's Degree preferred.
