Job Description - Curriculum Designer 1, Future 2 Exp (Multiple Positions)

Location: Hattie Mae White \n\nDepartment: Counseling, Curriculum Design \u0026 Assess \n\nArea:District Wide \n\nContract Months:12 \n\nSalary Range: $90,000.00 \u2013 $110,000.00 \n\nAcademic Year: 26-27 \n\n## JOB SUMMARY\n\nDesigns and develops engaging, student-centered learning experiences for Futures 2 schools (grades 3\u20138), grounded in real-world application, creativity, and critical thinking. Partners with key stakeholders to support innovative instructional models, ensuring alignment to district priorities while promoting student agency, engagement, and deeper learning outcomes.\n\n## MAJOR DUTIES \u0026 RESPONSIBILITIES\n\n1\\. Designs and develops student-facing learning experiences for grades 3\u20138 that emphasize creativity, problem-solving, and real-world application\n\n2\\. Creates project-based and experiential learning activities aligned to Future 2 instructional goals\n\n3\\. Collaborates with curriculum designers and educators to ensure experiences align with core content and instructional priorities\n\n## MAJOR DUTIES \u0026 RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED\n\n4\\. Integrates innovative practices, including interdisciplinary and inquiry-based learning approaches\n\n5\\. Evaluates effectiveness of student experiences using feedback and engagement data to improve design\n\n6\\. Supports teachers in implementing experiences through guidance, resources, and professional learning\n\n## EDUCATION\n\nBachelor\u0027s Degree\n\n## WORK EXPERIENCE\n\nAt least 3 years teaching experience, preferably in upper elementary or middle school\n\n## SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION\n\nSoftware\n\nOracle\n\nSAP\n\nMicrosoft Office\n\nTeacher Certification (preferred)\n\nOther: Project-based learning, instructional design, creativity and innovation\n\nEquipment\n\nOffice equipment (e.g., computer, copier)\n\n## LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nLevel 1-No supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice, and training to staff.\n\n## WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT\n\n## BUDGET AUTHORITY\n\nNo budget development activity is required.\n\n## PROBLEM SOLVING\n\nDecisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.\n\n## IMPACT OF DECISIONS\n\nDecisions have considerable impact to multiple divisions or the organization causing risks or improvements to relationships, significant efficiencies, or delays in operations, and/or significant financial gains or expenses. Errors are serious and difficult to discover, normally involve decisions not subject to detailed review and will result in excessive costs and/or significant project delays.\n\n## COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS\n\nCollaborate and solve problems - work with others to resolve problems, clarify, or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.\n\n## CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS\n\nAnticipates customer needs, identifies, and champions opportunities for the development and implementation of new services and methods to meet or exceed customer needs. Establishes customer service standards and feedback mechanisms across departments.\n\n## WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS\n\nWork is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.\n\nHouston Independent School District is an equal opportunity employer. \n
