Warehouse Custodian – Job Description

Position Title: Warehouse Custodian

Position Summary:

The Warehouse Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment. This role ensures all work areas, restrooms, break rooms, offices, and common spaces are cleaned and maintained to support daily warehouse operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe workplace while following company policies and safety standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub warehouse floors using manual and powered cleaning equipment.

  
  


• 
  

  Empty trash and recycling containers throughout the facility.

  
  


• 
  

  Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, break rooms, and office areas.

  
  


• 
  

  Dust and wipe down desks, shelving, windows, doors, and other surfaces.

  
  


• 
  

  Clean spills and respond promptly to housekeeping requests.

  
  


• 
  

  Maintain cleanliness around loading docks, entrances, aisles, and workstations.

  
  


• 
  

  Restock restroom and janitorial supplies as needed.

  
  


• 
  

  Operate floor scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, and other custodial equipment safely.

  
  


• 
  

  Perform routine inspections to identify cleaning or safety concerns.

  
  


• 
  

  Follow proper procedures for handling and disposing of waste and cleaning chemicals.

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with warehouse clean-up during inventory, audits, or special projects.

  
  


• 
  

  Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to management.

  
  


• 
  

  Comply with all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations.

  
  


• 
  

  Perform other duties as assigned.

  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  

  High school diploma or GED preferred.

  
  


• 
  

  Previous custodial, janitorial, or warehouse cleaning experience preferred but not required.

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

  
  


• 
  

  Reliable attendance and punctuality.

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  
  

Physical Requirements:

• 
  

  Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

  
  


• 
  

  Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.

  
  


• 
  

  Push and pull carts, trash containers, and cleaning equipment.

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures and around warehouse equipment.

  
  


• 
  

  Must be able to safely operate custodial equipment and use cleaning chemicals.

  
  

Work Environment:

• 
  

  Indoor warehouse setting with exposure to noise, forklifts, moving machinery, and changing temperatures.

  
  


• 
  

  Requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  
  


• 
  

  May require overtime, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.

  
  

Preferred Skills:

• 
  

  Experience operating automatic floor scrubbers or other commercial cleaning equipment.

  Basic understanding of workplace safety and OSHA standards.

  Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain a clean, organized facility in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
