Delivery Driver

Job purpose:

This position is responsible for transporting and delivery of goods and materials from various locations, ensuring punctual delivery and optimal condition upon arrival, as well as maintaining warehouse and yard integrity daily.

Job responsibilities:

• Drive various sized trucks, typically a 20’ flatbed daily in making deliveries of equipment and materials to the appropriate worksite and/or location.


• Practice safe driving habits, following all traffic rules and regulations.


• Assist in loading and unloading supplies and/or equipment from vehicles


• Use foresight and organization to plan and execute optimal routes for deliveries.


• Communicate with job-site personnel to maximize efficiency of deliveries.


• Operating equipment and machines, such as cars, trucks, forklifts, etc.

• Cleaning and maintaining work equipment. ...


• Inspecting vehicles for operation. ...


• Receiving deliveries of goods and supplies.


• Checking for damaged or missing items.

• Preparing reports and other documents relating to deliveries and receiving.

• Storing and organizing goods.


• Moving stock around by hand, using lifting gear or a forklift truck.


• Pulling and tagging orders.


• Maintaining cleanliness of warehouse and yard

• Perform related duties as required.

• Work quickly and efficiently.


• Must be honest, reliable, and hardworking


• Must have a great attitude and effective communication skills with coworkers, management, and suppliers.

Qualifications:

• 5 years driving experience, with large truck experience preferred, but not required.


• Valid driver’s license and insurable.


• Clean DMV record.


• Must be 21 years of age or older.


• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.


• Willing to learn and engage in work and tasks given.
  

Working conditions:

This is a 40 hour per week, full-time position. Daily job hours fluctuate but are generally 6:00 AM to 3:00PM or 7:00AM to 4:00PM with a 30- 60-minute daily lunch break. Overtime and weekend work hours are dependent on company workload. 

Physical requirements:

• Perform labor for seven hours or more each shift.


• Lifting heavy objects with and without assistance (objects are sometimes elevated from floor level to above shoulders).


• Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; frequent carrying heavy objects short distances.


• Bending at waist and knees; reaching, grasping/handling, stooping/crouching.


• Seated in a driving position for multiple hours as necessary.
