Dental Assistant
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA 52402 | Full Time
Glass Road Family Dentistry is looking for a driven, experienced Dental Assistant to join our team. Someone who is great with patients, takes initiative, and brings strong communication skills and a self-managing work ethic to everything they do will fit in great here. Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide expert chairside assistance to Dr. Toraño across a full range of procedures
- Assist across our complete scope of services: preventive dentistry, restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, family dentistry, dental implant restorations, dental prosthetics, oral surgery, root canal treatment, periodontal disease treatment, clear aligner treatment, mouth guards, fillings, and emergency dentistry
- Take and process digital X-rays and intraoral images in compliance with Iowa state regulations
- Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment following strict infection control protocols
- Prepare tray setups and maintain adequate supply levels in each operatory, replenishing as needed
- Prepare materials for impressions and restorations
- Ensure patient comfort and provide calm, compassionate support before, during, and after every procedure
- Obtain dental histories and ensure health histories are updated for all returning patients
- Provide post-treatment and post-operative instructions and patient education on oral hygiene and home care
- Record patient charting and all doctor notes as directed by the doctor
- Track dental supply inventory and process orders as needed
- Prepare, enter, and track lab cases from submission through delivery
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in full compliance with HIPAA
Front Desk & Administrative Support (as needed)
- Greet patients in person and via phone; check patients in for their appointments
- Assist with scheduling, treatment coordination, and filling schedule vacancies
- Process co-pays and assist patients with general practice or insurance questions
- Support billing and additional office tasks as directed
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Iowa Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) credential preferred
- Completion of an approved Iowa radiation safety course and radiography training required per state regulations
- Current CPR certification required
- Minimum 2 years of dental assisting experience preferred
- Front desk experience preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish strongly encouraged to apply

- Exceptional attention to detail in clinical work, documentation, and operatory preparation
