The Dentist provides technical dental care and services to patients according to plan of care established by American Dental Association and the Clinic’s policies and procedures. The Dentist assists with supervision of all dental staff, as requested by the Director of Clinic Operations works with Medical Director on promotion in the Tribal Community, and assists with developing and revising policies and procedures on an ongoing basis.
Provide basic dental services to patients to include but limited to:
Extractions;
Alveoplasty;
Fillings (Composite and amalgam);
Crowns; and
Root Canal therapy;
Participate in the Quality Improvement Program;
All other duties as delegated by the Executive Committee, or the Director of Clinic Operations;
Maintain quality dental care equal to or greater than the private sector;
Observe and document patient’s physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs and response to dental treatment;
Consider diagnosis, age, sex, language ability, care setting and desire for treatment;
Plan and communicate with other professionals involved in the patient’s care;
Complete required billing paperwork;
Provide patient and family member education;
Assist with maintenance of dental records according to policy/procedure and regulatory standards;
Maintain sterile environment and ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations for dental clinic;
Assist in Supervision of all dental staff as requested by the Director of Clinic Operations, to include RDA, Dental Hygienist, and Dental Receptionist in their job performance;
Work with staff to develop and revise dental policies and procedures and quality assurance activities;
Collaborate with all coworkers in performing duties required to provide patient-focused services that meet all regulatory and licensing standards;
May perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: D.D.S. Degree from accredited university
Experience: One (1) year experience working independently in a similar setting
Licensing:
Current California dental license
Valid CPR/1st aid certification.

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Must be able to work effectively under multiple demands and adjust priorities as circumstances require in meeting clinical/staffing needs of the patients.
Work a flexible schedule and be willing to work additional hours if needed for the provision of quality patient care.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
Physically able to stand, stoop and lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
Ability to assist patients weighing up to two hundred and fifty (250) pounds with getting up and down from exam chairs.
Able to walk and stand at least fifty percent 50% of the shift.
Good manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity.

Work is performed in an office setting which is well-lit, ventilated, and temperature controlled. The noise level is usually low to moderate.
The incumbent routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
