Description

The Department Administrator III is responsible for overall financial aspects of the department, to include, but not limited to: analyzing department budget, preparing the annual budget, ensuring adequate ledger/account reconciliation, preparing monthly financial reports, and ensuring clinical and research compliance. The administrator is responsible for the supervision, counseling and evaluation of department staff. He/she assists chairperson in development and implementation of annual goals. 



Responsibilities

•    Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices

•    Knowledge of human resources concepts, practices, policies, and procedures

•    Ability to effectively supervise and train staff and proficiently organize, prioritize and schedule work assignments

•    Excellent planning, organization, and implementation skills

•    Excellent organizational, communication (orally and in writing) & interpersonal skills

•    Skilled in coordinating and organizing meetings and/or special events

•    Working knowledge and proficient in the use of various software programs (including database management [e.g. Access], presentation packages [e.g. PowerPoint], spreadsheets [e.g. Excel] and advanced word processing [e.g. Word])

•    Demonstrated ability to prioritize and competently manage a variety of activities with multiple deadlines; motivation and willingness to take initiative and full responsibility for selected activities; proven ability with budget management and accountability

•    Ability to work cooperatively/effectively with others of diverse personalities, education and cultural backgrounds



Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


•    Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience in management accounting, planning, finance, computer operations, and personnel management, to include supervisory experience

OR

•    High school diploma or equivalent with 9 years of relevant experience in management accounting, planning, finance, computer operations, and personnel management, to include supervisory experience


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


•    Graduate degree

•    Health care/physician practice management

•    Budget development and how to manage operations to budget

•    Contract management experience
