Wage: $2,153.85 to $2,692.31 biweekly

Purpose: Reporting to the Visual Design, Arts & Archives Manager, the Design and Production Specialist supports the creation and production of event and graphics for Douglas County Libraries (DCL). This role collaborates across departments to develop signage, displays, and visual materials that enhance customer engagement and align with DCL’s brand and design standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and Decor (60%)
- Designs and produces graphics for signage, exhibit design support, event décor, and branded collateral, delivered across both print and digital formats.
- Leads event décor design and preparation for signature events, coordinating setup, transport, and installation across DCL locations.
- Manages multiple design projects with creativity, precision, and strong technical skills in layout, formatting, and pre-press production.
- Utilizes tools and hands-on skills for assembling design elements; maintains and supports installations across library branches.
- Collaborates effectively with teams, communicates professionally with staff and vendors, and supports overflow marketing projects as needed.
Department Operations (35%)
- Manages supply ordering for event décor and district-wide printed materials within budget.
- Participates actively in department and division meetings, offering ideas and constructive feedback.
- Fosters positive, collaborative relationships with coworkers to support a cohesive, mission-driven organizational culture.
Other Duties (5%)
- Develops proficiency in relevant industry and organizational technology.
- Engages in DCL’s performance feedback process and meets departmental expectations, policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three years of graphic and event decor design production experience
- Basic skills in Microsoft 365 or other productivity, collaboration, and cloud-based services software. Ability to learn and apply new technologies.
Preferred
- Expert knowledge and use of computers in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite in both Apple and PC platforms
A combination of experience and education will be considered.
Physical Requirements: Must have a reliable method of transportation between all DCL locations. Must have the physical ability, stamina, mobility and manual dexterity to support a 7-day a week operation. Work at computer workstations repetitively and for extended periods. Participate in meetings and events at various locations and at varied times throughout the day. Ability to read as small as 8pt font.
