Position Description

A Multi-Family Architect at Cushing Terrell is a design-forward leader shaping the future of residential living, bringing creativity, innovation, and technical expertise together to create vibrant, people-centered communities. This role is deeply rooted in concept development and storytelling, translating market insights and client vision into compelling, high-performing design solutions that elevate the built environment. Collaborating across integrated teams, interiors, urban design, structural, and MEP, they drive cohesive design from early ideation through execution, leveraging tools like Revit to bring ideas to life with precision. Beyond delivery, they are forward-thinking problem solvers who explore new housing typologies, sustainability strategies, and evolving lifestyle trends, ensuring each project is not only functional and feasible, but inspiring, efficient, and reflective of how people want to live now and in the future.

Position Salary Range*

The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000 annually.

Required Qualifications**

  • Accredited professional degree in Architecture
  • 10+ years of post-graduate professional experience
  • Current architect license/registration, LEED accredited is a plus
  • Experience and familiarity with commercial and multi-family residential
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Ability to build engaging client relationships, manage consultant teams
  • Ability to define and drive project milestones, facilitate project meetings
  • Working knowledge of Revit, Project Management Software, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Outlook
  • A passion for creative, collaborative, client-focused design
  • A talent for balancing graceful communication between Cushing Terrell teams and our clients

Position Responsibilities***

  • Lead project development and project teams from inception to completion
  • Direct the architectural team, and as necessary integrate engineering teams on projects of varying scale and budget
  • Knowledge of jurisdictional and project specific requirements including building codes, sustainability and energy requirements
  • Lead project documentation efforts with a deep knowledge of contract documents, specifications, shop-drawings, and submittal review
  • Be able to delegate, monitor progress, and conduct QA/QC coordination of contract documents
  • Have relevant experience in construction observation and construction administration, and understand construction costs, budgeting, and value engineering
  • Be motivated and self-reliant, maintaining collaborative working relationships and assisting with the development of emerging professionals
  • Have strong technical proficiency including experience in working in the following platforms: SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Organize and lead meetings involving internal & external clients/partners related to architectural development
  • Review contractor questions, RFI, and submittals to ensure compliance with design intent and design solutions
  • Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews. Approves quality of materials and work
  • Position may grow to include supervisory responsibilities including training, assigning, and directing work, reviewing performance, rewarding members and resolving problems. Supervisor responsibilities will be carried out with accordance to company policies and applicable laws

*Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate’s years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
