Job Description - Development Coordinator

About The Arc of the Capital Area

For more than 75 years, The Arc of the Capital Area has empowered people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to live, learn, work, and thrive in their communities. Serving 17 Central Texas counties, we provide case management, employment services, post-secondary education, creative arts programming, advocacy, and community-based supports that create pathways to independence and belonging.

We believe inclusion isn't a program, it's a promise.

The Development Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing The Arc's mission by supporting fundraising, donor engagement, community partnerships, and development operations.

Working closely with the Senior Director of Development, this position serves as both a relationship builder and systems manager, helping cultivate donors and sponsors while ensuring the organization maintains accurate data, strong stewardship practices, and an organized fundraising pipeline.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building meaningful relationships, staying organized, leveraging technology, and contributing directly to a mission-driven team.

What You'll Do

Donor Stewardship & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with individual donors, sponsors, community partners, and volunteers.

  • Coordinate donor acknowledgments, stewardship communications, and impact updates.

  • Support donor cultivation activities, including meetings, tours, events, and follow-up communications.

  • Assist with recurring donor, giving circle, and annual giving initiatives.

  • Help identify opportunities to upgrade donor engagement and retention.

Community & Corporate Engagement

  • Represent The Arc at networking events, chamber meetings, community presentations, and partner gatherings.

  • Develop relationships with businesses, civic organizations, schools, and community leaders.

  • Support sponsorship outreach and community partnership development.

  • Identify opportunities to expand awareness of The Arc's programs and services throughout Central Texas.

Development Operations & CRM Management

  • Maintain accurate donor, sponsor, volunteer, and prospect records in Bloomerang.

  • Enter gifts, pledges, interactions, and constituent information in a timely manner.

  • Generate reports and assist with fundraising analytics.

  • Conduct prospect research and maintain active prospect pipelines.

  • Ensure donor data integrity and consistent tracking of relationship activity.

Fundraising Support

  • Assist with sponsorship solicitations and fundraising campaigns.

  • Support the Gold Star Gala and other fundraising initiatives.

  • Coordinate outreach activities and follow-up communications.

  • Contribute to annual fundraising goals through donor cultivation, sponsorship development, community partnerships, and stewardship activities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong technology proficiency and ability to learn new systems quickly.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Professional and confident interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and disability advocacy.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, sales, customer relations, marketing, or community engagement.

  • Experience with CRM systems such as Bloomerang (preferred), Salesforce, or similar platforms.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva, and email marketing platforms.

  • Experience supporting donor stewardship, sponsorships, or fundraising initiatives.

Who Will Thrive in This Role?

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Mission-driven and passionate about creating inclusive communities.

  • Tech-savvy and comfortable working with data and systems.

  • Highly organized and dependable.

  • Relationship-oriented and comfortable engaging with community leaders and donors.

  • Curious, resourceful, and eager to learn.

  • Goal-oriented while understanding that strong fundraising begins with strong relationships.

  • A proactive problem solver who takes ownership of projects and follows through.

How Success Is Measured

Success in this role is evaluated through a balanced combination of relationship-building, stewardship, operational excellence, and fundraising support rather than solely on dollars raised.

Key Performance Indicators

Relationship Development

  • Build 8-12 new qualified community, donor, or business relationships each quarter.

  • Maintain active stewardship and communication plans for assigned donors and partners.

  • Support donor retention and engagement efforts.

Development Operations

  • Maintain accurate and timely CRM records.

  • Ensure gifts, pledges, and interactions are entered according to organizational standards.

  • Produce reliable reports and maintain strong pipeline visibility.

Community Engagement

  • Represent The Arc at community events and networking opportunities.

  • Increase awareness and visibility of The Arc throughout the region.

Fundraising Support

  • Contribute to annual fundraising goals through sponsorships, donor cultivation, stewardship activities, and partnership development.

  • Support the growth of individual giving, recurring donors, corporate partnerships, and event revenue.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $45,000-$55,000 annually, depending on experience.
Incentive Opportunity: Up to $10,000 annually based on achievement of quarterly performance goals and overall mission advancement.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) retirement plan

  • Paid time off and holidays

  • Professional development opportunities

  • Flexible, mission-driven work environment

  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with IDD

Why Join The Arc?

Every donor relationship strengthened, sponsorship secured, and partnership developed helps create more opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full, meaningful lives.

At The Arc, you'll join a team that believes everyone deserves the opportunity to belong, contribute, and thrive, and you'll play a direct role in making that vision a reality.
