Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented DEXA Scan Technician to join our healthcare team. The DEXA Scan Technician is responsible for performing DEXA examinations while providing patients with professional, respectful, and compassionate care.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with patients, assisting with positioning and mobility, operating imaging equipment safely, maintaining accurate documentation, and following established clinical, regulatory, privacy, and safety standards.

On-the-job training is provided under the supervision of qualified radiologic technologists.

DEXA Scan Technician, Full-time

Location: Onsite Arlington Heights

Days/Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm 

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform DEXA examinations in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and departmental procedures.


• Obtain and verify patient identification, medical history, and other information relevant to the examination.


• Explain the DEXA procedure to patients and provide clear instructions before and during the examination.


• Position patients appropriately and operate DEXA equipment to obtain accurate, high-quality images and measurements.


• Review scans for quality and completeness and repeat examinations when necessary in accordance with established protocols.


• Maintain accurate and timely patient records and examination documentation.


• Follow radiation safety practices and all applicable federal, state, and organizational requirements.


• Perform routine quality-control procedures and report equipment or imaging concerns appropriately.


• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy requirements.


• Clean and maintain the examination room, equipment, and work area according to department standards.


• Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, physicians, clinical staff, and other healthcare professionals.


• Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout the examination and respond appropriately to patient needs.


• Assist with scheduling, patient flow, workflow, and other departmental responsibilities as assigned.


• Maintain knowledge of current DEXA technology, procedures, safety practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.


• Perform all other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• CPR-BLS Certification 


• Experience working directly with patients in a healthcare, clinical, caregiving, or similar setting.


• Ability to safely assist patients with positioning, transfers, and mobility as needed.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


• Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, respectful, and professional patient care.


• Ability to work with patients who may have limited mobility, physical limitations, or special care needs.


• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established clinical and safety procedures.


• Ability to learn and follow DEXA examination protocols and equipment procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.


• Previous experience in a healthcare, imaging, radiology, or patient-care environment.


• Experience assisting patients with mobility or positioning.

Training

• On-site training provided.


• Training and clinical instruction will be provided under the supervision of qualified radiologic technologists.
