Diabetes Nurse Educator Job Responsibilities:
- Reviews patient care standards and patient education programs while assisting with the identification of patient variances.
- Serves as a role model, clinical resource, and mentor to other healthcare team members.
- Delegates patient care activities to other members of the team and redirects clinical activities to respond to changes in volume and emergent care needs.
- Assists in the marketing of Inova Health System VNA Home Health services to Inova departments/operating units, physicians, consumers and the community through the development of promotional materials, presentations, health fairs, in-services and seminars.
- Participates in the planning of a department-sponsored community or professional program and presents annually.
- Assists in the implementation of practice improvement initiatives, as evidenced by documentation and observation of clinical practice.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Hours: Full-time, M-F (regular office hours, 8am-4:30pm with some flexibility needed)
Location: Maternal Fetal Medicine Office/ Willow Oak Fairfax
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- Experience: 1 year of Registered Nurse or 250 hours of DSME/T
- Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Certified Diabetes Educator: must complete CDE within 18-24 months of employment/ eligible to sit for CDE within 1 year of employment; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the Diabetic patient population
- Obstetrics or Endocrinology experience preferred
