Your New Role…

The Image+Sound Digital Preservation team is integral for the effective operation of CNN Worldwide by performing the daily oversight needed to ingest content.  The primary responsibility of this position is to ingest tape content into the CNN Archive.  By working directly with partners, the Digital Preservation team is expected to know the business priorities of their assigned task, be editorially in tune with their content and problem solve errors as needed.

Your Role Accountabilities…

• Determine necessary actions to preserve and ingest content from various tape formats.
• Use vectorscopes and waveform monitors to analyze video while verifying recording quality.
• Adjust audio and video levels as necessary to provide the highest quality content possible.
• Review assets after ingesting files to confirm a quality digital file was created for optimal transfer to the CNN Archive and know how to troubleshoot common errors and when to escalate issues if needed.
• Add precise metadata to content to enhance searchability across CNN Worldwide.
• Fill out digitization spreadsheets daily for accurate record keeping and data reporting.
• Communicate professionally with peers, management and partners.  Write clear daily shift reports notating your progress towards achieving department goals. 

Qualifications & Experience…

• Editorial experience and strong news awareness should be demonstrated.
• Effective written and oral communication skills are a must including the ability to analyze and communicate editorial details as it specifically applies to video.
• Ability to pay close attention to details and proven organizational skills are a must.
• Candidates must possess video production knowledge, strong computer skills on a user level, good spelling and typing skills are needed.
• Knowledge of current and historical events, as well as the ability to recognize key news figures is idea.
• It is helpful to have experience with recording content, research tools, editing, VTR operations and various video formats.
