About Empowered Services

Empowered Services provides one-on-one, in-home and community-based care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) deliver hands-on caregiver support, including Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), mobility assistance, and community engagement, helping individuals live as independently and meaningfully as possible. We are committed to person-centered care, respect, and building strong, consistent relationships.

Position Overview

We are hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver to support an adult in the McMinnville area. This is an entry-level caregiving role with paid training provided, making it a great opportunity for those interested in healthcare, home health, or human services. This position blends community-based support with hands-on personal care, ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, engaging with others, and providing meaningful, daily support.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Support community outings (movies, events, recreation)

  • Provide personal care and ADL support (hygiene, dressing, toileting)

  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning

  • Encourage participation through preferred activities and choices

  • Provide close supervision and ensure safety awareness

  • Observe and respond to nonverbal communication cues

  • Support medical needs, including medication administration and tube feeding

Schedule

  • Tuesday: 6:45 AM – 4:45 PM

  • Thursday: 2:45 PM – 7:00 PM

  • Friday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

  • Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Consistent weekly schedule with some flexibility based on support needs.

About the Individual

You will be supporting an individual who is:

  • Warm, expressive, and highly social

  • Communicates nonverbally (facial expressions, eye contact, body language)

  • Uses a wheelchair and requires physical support

  • Engages well in shared activities and community outings

Interests include:

  • Community activities (movies, bowling, local events)

  • Swimming and water-based recreation

  • Self-care activities (spa days, fashion—loves pinks, purples, sparkles)

  • Music, cooking shows, and reality TV

Support Needs

This role involves consistent, hands-on caregiving and medical support in both home and community settings.

Key considerations:

  • Occasional vocalizations—requires a calm, patient approach

  • Needs extra processing time—flexible pacing is important

  • Requires dignity-focused, person-centered care

Responsibilities include:

  • Mobility assistance and repositioning

  • Supporting daily physical therapy routines

  • Medication administration

  • Following seizure and medical protocols

  • Tube feeding support

  • Monitoring nonverbal signs of discomfort or needs

Pay & Benefits

  • $23–$25 per hour (based on experience)

  • Paid training provided

  • Flexible scheduling based on customer needs

Full-time (30+ hrs/week) may be eligible for:

  • Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance

  • 401(k) with employer match

  • Paid Time Off (PTO)

Qualifications

Required:

  • 18+ years old

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation

  • Current auto insurance

  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Comfortable with hands-on personal care and mobility support

Preferred:

  • Experience as a caregiver, DSP, CNA, or home health aide

  • Experience supporting individuals with IDD or disabilities

  • CPR/First Aid certification

  • Strong observation and communication skills

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Active, community-based caregiving role (not a desk job)

  • Opportunity to build a meaningful 1:1 relationship

  • Mix of routine care and engaging daily activities

  • Supportive team environment with clear guidance

  • Strong experience for careers in healthcare, therapy, or nursing
