As a DSP, you’ll work one-on-one with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD), supporting daily routines, community involvement, and personal goals in a way that is engaging, respectful, and empowering.

What You’ll Do
- Support daily routines (cooking, cleaning, personal care with the client)
- Help clients get into the community and stay engaged

- Communicate with families and your team
- Complete notes and documentation

Current Clients Needing Additional Support
Client 1 (North Portland):
- Male | 11 yrs | 97211
- Schedule: Needs help during the week. Hours could be flexible but during the day. He refuses to go to school.
- Likes: He enjoys his own space and having quiet time when he needs it. He likes his electronics, playing action dolls and toys.
- Needs: Family prefers a DSP who has experience supporting non verbal individuals with autism. Work on building independent living skills, improving street safety skills, improve school attendance and communication skills
Client 2 (North Portland):
- Male | 9 yrs | 97212
- Schedule: Needs help Tuesday 8am-3pm, Friday 2pm-8pm . Weekends could be flexible anytime.
- Likes: He enjoys singing and music, running and playing in the sand.
- Needs: OIS training is required......Needs support to improve communication, emotional regulation and daily living skills. Has higher behaviors and needs help learning to teach coping and self regulation skills. Follow his behavior support plan to reduce self harm/property destruction.
Client 3 (North Portland):
- Female | 20 yrs | 97217
- Schedule: Needs support on the weekends. Schedule can be flexible. Clients family is new to recieving outside support and would prefer to start slow with a new DSP and could turn into more hours if good rapport is built with family/client
- Likes: This client is a friendly and engaging individual who enjoys attention, music, singing, and warm baths. She is mostly nonverbal, using limited words, facial expressions, and gestures to communicate.
- Needs: This client has a g-tube and requires nurse delegation training. She requires full support for mobility, transfers, feeding via G-tube, bathing, hygiene, and fire evacuation. She is wheelchair-bound and dependent on others for all ADLs and IADLs, including personal care, dressing, and transportation. She is medically fragile, with a history of constipation and swallowing difficulties. She prefers services in the home or PSW’s home and thrives with consistent, attentive interaction. Communication with this client requires repetition, cues, and familiarity, as new people may not readily understand her needs. Supervision is required for all major daily activities and safety.
Requirements
- 18+ years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of caregiving or related experience
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation
- Smartphone required
- Must be able to successfully pass all state-required background checks and meet all ODDS employment eligibility requirements.
- CPR/First Aid/AED (or willing to obtain)
