Serves as a member of the Exceptional Student Services (ESS) leadership team, supporting the Executive Director in creating a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and learning. Provides overall vision and direction for all Nursing and Student Health team members in the development of services for all students in Denver Public Schools while aligning activities to district goals and objectives. Acts as a key member of the Exceptional Student Services team and will plan, develop and implement quality school nursing services across the District. Provides program development and management; staff leadership including coaching, training, and development; data management; and supports to ensure that all district students receive state and federal mandated
school health services. Supports school nurses and student health team members in the areas of health office management, delegation, development of IEPS, 504 Plans, and health plans. Create a team culture that is data-driven, values-based, learning focused and is results-driven towards positive student outcomes.
**The Director must demonstrate a willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement. This role requires maintaining the highest level of confidentiality regarding all District matters, especially those involving the Superintendent, Chief of Staff, and the Board of Education. Ensuring trust and discretion is paramount to the success and integrity of this position.

What You'll Do:
- Oversees multiple cross-functional strategic efforts ensuring alignment with Exceptional Student Services and driving toward student growth and achievement and serves on district cross-functional teams
- Holds high expectations for and provides supervision to direct reports, including effective performance management, ongoing coaching and feedback, and strategic planning guidance and oversight
- Leads and manages district nursing and health services team, including fostering a positive and collaborative team culture
- Represents the District in legal proceedings related to the provision of Nursing and Student Health Services. Assures compliance with state and federal mandates for health and nursing services
- Establishes a clear vision for how nursing supports are provided to schools and sets clear, measurable, and coherent annual team goals aligned to the vision and the exceptional student services strategic plan
- Encourages and effectively incorporates new ideas and innovative thinking across all aspects of the teams' school supports
- Effectively designs and manages programs and deploys resources based on school needs (including a successful model for deployment of nursing services and other people resources on the team). Provides project management and subject matter expertise to the development of new programs
- Applies management skills, deep knowledge of culturally relevant behavior practices, and data-driven decision-making to lead the team in achieving results that increase student growth and outcomes
- Ensure decisions promote equity for all students, particularly students of color and students struggling to be successful due to health issues, by having a social justice lens
- Establishes and fosters successful cross-functional relationships that strengthen the work of the team and schools and promote positive student outcomes
What You’ll Need:
- Master's Degree in Nursing/Health Sciences required
- Minimum of three years in healthcare or nursing required
- Minimum of three years of relevant leadership experience required
- 3+ years of management responsibility
- Registered Nurse License and CDE Special Service Provider License required
- Administrative license preferred
- Experience in a K-12 district or school setting preferred
- Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
- Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
