Union Experience: Must have prior experience working within unionized environments.
Acute Care Leadership: Minimum of 5 years as an Acute Care Clinical Leader.
Clinical Competency: Must have RN competency in Med/Surg or ICU settings.
Preferred Qualifications
Leadership Experience: Previous Unit Level Director experience is strongly preferred.
Project Management: Demonstrated success in collaborating with physicians, managing projects, and implementing process improvements.
Nursing Experience: At least 2 years of bedside RN experience.
Education and Certifications
Minimum Education: Bachelors degree in Nursing or eligible RN licensure in Montana.
Preferred Education: Masters degree in Nursing, Business, or Leadership/Management.
Certifications:
BLS and ACLS within 3 months of hire.
Specialty certification (e.g., ONS) preferred.
Job Summary
The Director of Acute Care Services reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the ICU/PCU, Medical/Surgical, and Rehab Nursing Units. This role focuses on clinical excellence, financial health, staff development, and collaboration across the healthcare system.
The director leads a multidisciplinary team, ensuring patient-centered care while managing the daily operations of assigned units. Key responsibilities include staff management, budget oversight, compliance monitoring, quality improvement initiatives, and serving as a resource for clinical staff when needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement staff education, training, and orientation programs.
Collaborate with the Acute Care Manager to ensure adequate staffing levels across units.
Participate in hiring, evaluation, and retention of staff.
Establish quality and safety standards; audit and improve processes.
Actively engage in strategic planning and policy updates.
Manage budgets and productivity metrics for each unit.
Conduct regular rounds and provide visible support to unit staff.
Communicate regularly with the Senior Leadership Team, offering updates, addressing concerns, and proposing solutions.
Take on patient care assignments or serve as a clinical resource when required.
