Pay: $150,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year

Location: Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC. This is a hybrid opportunity offering a balance of in-office collaboration and work-from-home flexibility. Candidates must be able to work from one of these two office locations.

Note: Candidates must hold an active CPA license, have 5+ years of derivative accounting, investment accounting, or related financial reporting experience, including 3+ years of hands-on accounting for complex derivatives, and demonstrate experience with U.S. statutory (STAT) accounting and reporting. Job Description

  • Lead derivative accounting, financial reporting, and analysis across a complex investment portfolio.
  • Oversee accounting for interest rate swaps, credit derivatives, options, futures, foreign exchange contracts, and structured products.
  • Ensure accurate reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP, U.S. STAT, RSTAT, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Review derivative valuations, reconciliations, journal entries, financial statement disclosures, and supporting documentation.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual statutory investment schedules, exhibits, and regulatory filings.
  • Analyze investment portfolio performance, income trends, and financial risk exposures.
  • Prepare insightful financial reports and presentations for senior management.
  • Collaborate with Investment, Treasury, Actuarial, Risk, and Finance teams on complex transactions and accounting matters.
  • Improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and implement automation opportunities.
  • Support regulatory compliance, reporting accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of derivative accounting, investment accounting, or related financial reporting experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience involving complex derivative instruments.
  • Experience with U.S. statutory (STAT) accounting and reporting required.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and derivative accounting principles, including ASC 815 and ASC 820.
  • Experience with derivative valuations, reconciliations, investment schedules, and regulatory disclosures.
  • Working knowledge of RSTAT reporting requirements.
  • Insurance, reinsurance, or asset management industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Clearwater Analytics, Oracle, and BSTAT experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
