Director of Estimating (Heavy Civil)

Urban Infraconstruction is looking for a Director of Estimating to join our Estimating Department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the estimating department, including training, mentoring, and developing estimators at various levels.


• Oversee preparation of detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects ranging from conceptual budgets to final bid submissions.


• Develop and implement standardized estimating processes, tools, and best practices to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  


• Direct quantity takeoffs, production rates, and cost analysis for self-performed and subcontracted work.


• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
  


• Lead bid reviews, strategy sessions, and final proposal submissions.


• Evaluate project risks, constructability concerns, and market conditions to support go/no-go decisions.


• Support business development efforts by providing conceptual budgets and preconstruction input for prospective projects.

Qualifications:

• 10–20+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating.


• Strong background in infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, earthwork, utilities, drainage, and site development.


• Prior leadership experience managing estimating teams preferred.
  


• Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid preferred or similar platforms).
  


• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent field experience).
