Director of Nursing (Skilled Nursing/Long Term Care)

Position: Director of Nursing (DON)

Job Summary: The Director of Nursing (DON) oversees the nursing department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in compliance with state and federal regulations. This leadership role involves managing nursing staff, developing policies and procedures, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Management:
  
  
  
  • Supervise and lead all nursing staff, setting high standards of patient care.
  
  
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate nursing personnel to maintain a competent and motivated team.
  
  
  • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures that comply with regulatory standards.
  
  
  
  


• Patient Care:
  
  
  
  • Ensure the delivery of compassionate, quality care to residents.
  
  
  • Oversee the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
  
  
  • Monitor patient outcomes and adjust care plans as necessary to improve quality of care and well-being.
  
  
  
  


• Compliance and Quality Assurance:
  
  
  
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  
  
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
  
  
  • Conduct regular audits and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  
  
  
  


• Collaboration:
  
  
  
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic care.
  
  
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, administration, patients, and families.
  
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Jersey.


• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; Master’s degree preferred.


• Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing management experience, preferably in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.


• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.


• In-depth knowledge of nursing practices, regulations, and standards.
