Job Description - Director of SHARP


Job Title: Director of SHARP 

 

Classification: Exempt, Full-time, Salaried

Reports to: Vice President of Residential Services

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work and Attendance

Typical work hours: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Days of week: Monday - Friday

Overtime: is expected, as needed 

On-Call responsibilities, as needed

Location: Pierceton Woods Academy & Spencer Home (PWASH) 

Supervises: Program Managers and Support Team Specialists

General Statement of Responsibility 

Responsible for oversight and leadership of programs, activities, facilities, staff and resources of the SHARP Program at Pierceton Woods Academy.

Supervisor Responsibilities

This position provides supervisory oversight of the positions noted above. Supervisor oversight includes:

  • Onboarding: Provide training and modeling for Support Team Specialists and Program Managers.
  • Employee Development: Ensure all direct reports meet training guidelines, and continue to develop them professionally with appropriate training opportunities and experiences
  • Employee Retention: Ensure direct reports are utilizing time off to avoid burnout; seek to understand development goals of direct reports to advocate for their professional development
  • Performance Evaluation: Complete collaborative evaluations for all direct reports annually

Major Responsibilities / Activities 

  • Oversee all day-to-day operations of SHARP programming.
  • Oversee SHARP program development and program growth, including ongoing update of the Youth Program Handbook.
  • Oversee SHARP program to assure adequate and proper staffing, to include interviewing and hiring staff in partnership with Lasting Change Recruiting and Lasting Change HR
  • Partner with PWASH Marketing to assure resident-census stays at appropriate levels
  • Interview and Hire new staff as needed to ensure the program stays fully staffed, with a maximum annual turnover of 30%.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the care and services with other Program Pillars (Counseling and Education) as well as other units (Weekly Supervisor/Coordinator Meetings).
  • Be the primary contact for SHARP Admissions and Intake.
  • Ensure that the program records and procedures sufficiently pass Local, State, Federal, and Internal inspections.
  • Hold staff accountable in ensuring that adequate and timely records are maintained for each resident in the program.
  • Hold staff accountable in ensuring that all facilities are maintained in a safe and clean manner so they pass Local, State, Federal and PWASH inspections.
  • Engage in staff leadership and staff development be performing monthly one-on-one meetings with Program Managers, Support Team Specialists, Youth Treatment Specialists
  • Lead weekly Program Meetings/Unit Meetings to ensure staff are consistent in their approach and to address any issues with youth, behavior, or program
  • Ensure Critical Incident Reports and Treatment Plans are signed in a timely manner to ensure on-time billing, and monthly State Reports are submitted on time for all programs.
  • Oversee SHARP program to ensure program runs according to state licensing, contract, health and fire regulations, including performance and tracking of unit fire drills.
  • Work with the VP and Director of Operations to monitor and supervise all SHARP financial responsibilities (OT, spending, budgets)
  • Work with the VP to ensure program services are meeting customer and client needs.
  • Work with VP, Case Managers, Marketing Team, and Management to resolve conflicts with placing agencies, state, neighbors, and community.
  • Challenge all staff to develop and grow professionally and spiritually    
  • Comply with required in-service / continuing education hours as outlined in policy manual. Attain/maintain CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Execute job responsibilities consistent with PWA & Spencer Home, Inc.’s (PWASH) Tenets of Culture, mission, vision, and beliefs, while adhering to all company policies and procedures. 
  • Other duties as requested.

Travel

Travel is not a regular part of this position; however, it may be necessary at times for trainings, meetings, residents’ needs, and other activities.

Physical and Visual Acuity Requirements

The physical requirement of this position is defined as Sedentary Work: Exerting up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

The visual acuity requirements needed to perform this position include having close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and reading.

Work Environment 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will be exposed to both inside and outside environmental conditions, as well as:

Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • A bachelor’s degree in social work or in a human service area plus four (4) years of experience in a professional capacity in a child welfare agency or therapeutic setting that serves children.
  • Minimum of 3 years of social service experience
  • Supervision of employees

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, ministry, or a human service area.
