Director of Software Development

We are working with and exciting fast pace organization that is looking to add on to their leadership team a Director of Software Development who will oversee their growing engineering group. This role will report directly to the CTO and be responsible for driving the development of next generation software applications for both external clients and internal product offerings. As Director of Software Development you will be responsible for leveraging deep experience in overseeing the software development life cycle, strategically allocating technical resources, and providing extensive technical guidance to establish and grow high velocity Agile teams. You will be responsible for managing the key drivers that govern software development projects, including cost, timeline, resource, and tool management, as well as serve as a vital contributor to the technical strategy, architecture, and product vision for the cloud applications that the organization develops.

In this role you must be delivery focused and be able to communicate objectives and approaches across multiple stakeholder relationships. As a Director of Software Development you will help drive the overall engineering strategy for the organization. When solving problems, you should be able to develop, organize, and present multiple solutions as well as communicate the approach throughout all levels of the company.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Manage and grow high performing software development teams.
  


• Manage both onshore and nearshore technical team members including 3rd party development resources.
  


• Manage and evolve software development and engineering practices (Agile/Scrum) while ensuring system, technical, and product architectures are aligned with business objectives.
  


• Work collaboratively with the Cloud Applications team that utilizes AWS Managed Cloud Services to ensure DevOps, CI/CD, and client application support processes are executed effectively.
  


• Lead development teams as an active member of a growing organization helping define and influence team culture and environment.
  


• Work collaboratively with the Product Management and Client Engagement teams to insure tactical and operational alignment for product co-visioning and Agile software development and delivery.
  


• Work with executive management to provide project estimation as well as supervise technical resource utilization for software projects over their lifespan.
  


• Represent the Software Engineering organization at senior level both internal as part of the management team and external with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development and engineering experience using multiple programming languages and technology frameworks
  


• 8+ years managing multiple software development teams under an Agile software development lifecycle
  


• 5+ years managing managers and senior technical team members
  


• 5+ years overseeing web application development and deployment in public cloud environments, particularly AWS
  


• 3+ years working for/with both startups and enterprise level companies
